LGBTQ+ Pacific Northwest Backpacking

Trek the North Cascades in a Queer-Positive Community

Journey into the North Cascade Mountains in a queer-positive space while learning backpacking, outdoor living, and leadership skills. This course is specifically designed for those who identify as LGBTQ+ and are 18 years or older. Find adventure, build community, and feel a sense of belonging in the wilderness.

Experience lush forests and rugged mountain passes on this seven-day excursion. Learn about local ecology as you backpack through wide plateaus and cross rippling rivers. Wake up to see the sun rise on glacier-carved peaks, and fall asleep ready to take on the next day.

Even if you’ve never been camping or backpacking before, this course is a great way to learn more about the outdoors—and yourself. Leadership skills will be a key part of this expedition. Take on different leadership roles every day, find out what your unique style is, and use it to support the group. Practice good communication while planning the day’s route, and learn to manage group dynamics effectively while navigating to the next campsite. Take on challenges, achieve common goals, and build an inclusive community. Return inspired and ready to lead your next adventure.
