Tailored for climbers of all experience levels, these trips focus on skills including climbing techniques, knots, rope handling, belaying, anchors, protection placement, traditional and sport climbing systems, rappelling, and lead climbing theory. You'll develop face and crack climbing skills and gain experience with multi-pitch climbing.

You will work hard during this trip, but you will play hard as well. And you will leave with the skills necessary to climb in the wilderness long after the end of the trip. No matter your climbing background, your instructors will challenge and improve your techniques.

These trips have a base-camp style of program where you will "car camp" in a single location for the entire trip and drive or walk to different climbing areas. Camping of this style tends to be a bit more comfortable that a backpacking trip and NOLS takes advantage of this with food and sleeping comfort a step above many of our trips.

We offer this trip at a variety of locations on different dates. Click the Trip Description for detailed description about that location.

This is a great trip for non-grad guests and family.

Overall Difficulty*:

*Base camping can feel luxurious but daily climbing means challenging days and sore muscles.

What Our Grads Say

"Our alumni climbing trip was a fantastic few days. As a couple with a wide range of climbing abilities, my wife and I were amazed at how effectively the instructors created climbing options appealing to
the full spectrum of experience within the group. The Instructor team also enabled a fantastic group dynamic by balancing teaching with facilitating fun opportunities. We'll be back on another trip soon."
