Teton Valley Spring Break Backcountry Touring - 16 to 18 only

Make your spring break an adventure

Feel cold air on your face as you slice through fresh snow. Spend your days far from city buildings. See the clear winter stars at night. On this course, you’ll learn the foundational skiing, camping and risk management skills to start exploring the backcountry in the winter. During the day you’ll find fresh snow to go skiing or splitboarding. You’ll practice assessing avalanche hazards and learn about snow science. At night, you’ll sleep in snug snow shelters you’ll learn build yourself. Beyond the technical skills, you’ll also learn about leadership. You’ll practice risk management and decision making, learning to work as a team and manage your group. This is hands-on leadership experience you can apply to any group or team.

For most people, winter means they need to pause going to the mountains. But when you have the appropriate skills, a whole world of exploring opens up. On this course, you’ll get a perfect introduction to these skills—and maybe start a lifetime of getting outdoors in the winter.
