Alaska is a land of incredible fjords, forested ocean coasts, and high alpine meadows. This dynamic landscape is where you will hone your wilderness travel and leadership skills. Your month-long adventure will give you a chance to experience two wilderness travel skills - backpacking and sea kayaking - while at the same time giving you the opportunity to explore two very different environments.
You will begin this expedition with the sea kayaking section and will transition to backpacking about halfway through, giving you time to master both of these skills. Throughout your first few days you'll learn the basics of camping, cooking, and wilderness travel. As you gain more competence and confidence in your backcountry abilities, you'll take on more responsibility for aspects of the expedition, allowing you to explore different takes on your personal and team leadership styles. By the end of this expedition you will master living and traveling the backcountry.
