Chief People Officer

Andi Summers

Andi came to NOLS as a partner first, consulting with the school on matters of HR, culture, and DE&I. In her eighteen months of working with folks throughout the NOLS community, she became intrigued and inspired by the palpable passion, commitment, and collective enthusiasm for NOLS’ mission. Having spent four years consulting, Andi chose to join NOLS during a time of profound transformation to contribute to its success through the investment in its most valuable asset - its people.

She brings twelve years of tactical “HR department of one” experience and time spent conceptualizing and operationalizing large-scale organizational change, dramatic shifts in culture, DE&I initiatives, and leadership development through hands-on advisory, systemic design, and delivery. Andi continues to learn as much and as often as possible, serves as a mentor through The Mom Project, and teaches Workplace Ethics at UCSD.

Andi is a values-driven leader, who has consistently been recognized as such. Her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees are in Communication Studies with a business and nonprofit emphasis and minor in Psychology from Moorpark College and CSU Channel Islands. She went on to earn her Master’s in Human Resources from Pepperdine University.

Texas-born and California-raised, Andi currently lives in Pennsylvania with her high school sweetheart husband, E.J., and their toddler, Rebel (plus their dog and couple cats, who attend most Zoom meetings). She savors the time she spends sewing, reading, digging in the garden, cooking, and listening to music with her family.
