Geoff Irons

Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician

Geoff Irons

Geoff “retired” after a 26-year Army career to the small town of Woodland Park so he and his wife could “enjoy climbing and skiing the beautiful mountains of Colorado.” He has always had a strong love of the outdoors and sense of community service, spending more than 20 years in emergency medicine. While in the military, Geoff volunteered his free time working as an EMT on an ambulance squad, a WEMT on a SAR team, and a ski patroller in Germany (he eventually served as the director of the Mountain Travel and Rescue program for the European Division of the NSP). In Colorado, he is enjoying serving on his county SAR team, and as a patroller with the Breckenridge Auxiliary Ski Patrol. Oh, and to prove he really doesn’t understand retirement, he also works full-time for REI “inspiring, educating and outfitting” customers in the Colorado Springs store, and travelling throughout the west to train REI employees.
