Katie Hammonds

Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician

Katie Hammonds

Katie was (very literally) born and raised on an apple farm in Maine. Growing up in a world where the work changes with the seasons led Katie to love and crave this lifestyle. Katie graduated with an Art degree from Colby College in 2001 and became a WFR in 2003. Since then, she has kept the seasonal, outdoor spirit alive by working as a River Guide, Ski Patroller, and Backcountry Park Ranger, primarily in Utah and at Washington’s Mount Rainier National Park (with stints in the Tetons and eastern Maui). To play outside AND teach is, in her opinion, the best combination. Having taught Human Anatomy at the Univ. of Utah, she naturally started teaching for NOLS Wilderness Medicine in 2011. She’s been an EMT since 2006. She recently moved to New Hampshire with her husband and two cats and is excited to be re-introduced to some rural New England livin’!
