David Durant

Instructor

David Durant

Dave started his career as an outdoor educator at age seventeen, facilitating a high ropes course near Philadelphia. After graduating from McGill University, he worked in the Adirondacks as a summer camp director, university outdoor program administrator, and director of an outdoor education center. In his sparse free time he volunteered on the local ambulance squad and played B league darts.

Dave took his Expedition Instructor course (IC) in 2008 and Wilderness Medicine Instructor Training Course (ITC) in 2011. Currently he works via the Annual Faculty Program (AFP) and splits his time between the classroom and the field, working Backpacking, Climbing, Canyons, and Winter courses as well as WFAs, WFRs, WFR-Rs, and WEMTs. Dave is particularly proud of being a proctor for the first Wilderness Medicine and Rescue Semester, as well as a preceptor to our newest Wilderness Medicine instructors. When not working he enjoys international hitchhiking adventures, more backcountry skiing, and good books.
