Mattie is currently working as a flight nurse in Flagstaff, AZ where she specializes in pediatric emergency care. In her spare time she is a backcountry guide for Scottsdale Community College’s outdoor recreation program. Before nursing she worked for many years guiding backpacking, climbing, mountaineering, and river trips in the Southwest. When she's not saving lives in helicopters she can be found riding one of her many bikes, strumming music with friends, traveling to Hawaii, cooking delicious healthy meals, or chasing her kiddo around the woods. Her love for experiential teaching and unique ability of delivering complex information simply is what makes her a fantastic teacher for NOLS Wilderness Medicine.
