Nick came to NOLS in 2004 as a student on a Baja Coastal Sailing course. He quickly got on the outdoor education bandwagon and began instructing expeditions for NOLS in 2007. He teaches backpacking, sea kayaking and sailing courses for the school. He has instructed domestically and abroad in 9 different countries working standard, custom and alumni expeditions. Nick was first trained as a wilderness first responder in 1998, and in 2011 he was trained as a wilderness EMT. He has also received a Master Degree in Strategic Leadership Toward Sustainability, which he applies to his conservation work with The Nature Conservancy in the Channel Islands off the coast of California. When he is not instructing wilderness medicine courses or expedition-ing with NOLS, he can be found playing in the mountains or exploring out at sea!
