Rob lives in Bend, Oregon where he has worked as an ER nurse, on Life Flight and most recently in the Cardiac Lab. Along with his partner, Karen Holm, he has bicycled from Seattle to Bolivia, paddled a home-built wooden sea kayak from Glacier Bay, Alaska to Washington’s San Juan Islands, made the first complete traverse of Chile’s southern channels by sea kayak and explored the Yukon and Alaskan Arctic by pack canoe and on foot. When not on personal adventures you can find him leading courses for the National Outdoor Leadership School and the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS where he has been an instructor since 1998.
